The Wood Sandpiper breeds around marshes and swamps, mostly in Norrland. It forms great flocks at the resting places in Southern Sweden, among others in Asköviken. Both parents brood on the eggs, but soon after the hatching the female departs and the male bird is left to take care of the offspring.
