The Western Marsh Harrier is a characteristic bird that is to be found around many densely reeded lakes in Southern and Central Sweden. Every year several pairs of these Harriers breed in Asköviken. The Western Marsh Harrier's diet includes small birds, field-mice, water-bird nestlings and frogs. Its nest is built of reeds amidst dense, tall reedbeds.
