The Northern Lapwing is one of the earliest spring birds to arrive at Asköviken. It is a characteristic bird in all flat country and it breeds in lakeside meadows, in swamps on cultivated land, and in regions of bare limestone soil. The nest is often situated atop a tussock and is lined with grass.
