The Garganey breeds sparingly in Southern and Central Sweden. It is very particular about choosing its breeding site. The Garganey prefers lakes that are rich in food and are surrounded by wet meadows and waterlogged strips. The aquatic environment has to be varied, with a combination of open lagoons, reed clumps and patches of underwater plants and floating-leaf vegetation. By re-creating a blue border we hope to improve the conditions Asköviken can offer the Garganey.
