The Bearded Reeding was originally a southern European bird. It arrived in Sweden in the mid-1960s and has preferentially sought out flat-land lakes rich in the common reed. You can hear the whining "ping" call of the Bearded Reeding from the reedbeds of Asköviken during all seasons of the year.
